Dr. Michelle Aristizabal, M.D, FACOG received her medical degree from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine, USA. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, USA. As of 2021, she is pursuing a fellowship with the Integrative Medicine with the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona. ​As a board certified Obstetrician Gynecologist, she is highly skilled in all areas of general Obstetrics and Gynecology, including all areas of general gynecologic surgery.

She is also an expert in the integration of natural birth approaches into standard prenatal care and the hospital setting. As an attending physician, she worked tirelessly to expand the acceptance of natural birth practices within her local medical community and educates medical students and resident physicians in alternative labor management techniques. She is the author of  Natural Labor and Birth: An Evidenced Based Guide to the Natural Birth Plan.

In 2013, Dr. Aristizabal opened Wombkeepers OB/GYN and Maternity Wellness Center in Montclair, NJ, where she personally delivered over 2,500 babies. In this busy, private practice with a special focus on supporting women who desire low-intervention, unmedicated births, she worked tirelessly to offer the community alternative birthing options. In 2020, she returned to her home town in Arizona, USA where she will continue working with Wombkeepers, bringing her years of expertise and support of low-intervention models of care to the Scottsdale community and the larger Phoenix Valley. She is excited to pioneer a new approach to prenatal care through the development of a Wombkeepers location dedicated exclusively to the care of women during their pregnancy and postpartum period, as well as establish Scottsdale's first free-standing, physician-led birthing center.

When she’s not helping with babies, she and her husband of fifteen years are busy with their own two incredible children, who fill their lives with much hilarity and love. Dr. A, as she’s known to her patients, also enjoys hiking, archery, and various creative pursuits, including painting and writing poetry and fiction. She is also committed to improving the health of women worldwide and has provided care to women in Eastern Africa as part of medical mission trips.

Dr. A, as she is called by many of her patients, is an extremely special doctor who really cares about her patients. She takes the time to sit and talk with new  mothers, getting to know them, and addressing their needs.  In the delivery room, she is calm, caring, and patient, with an enormous respect for the birthing process. She is dedicated to working with her patients to birth their babies in the way they wish, while safeguarding the process.
