Lewis Mehl-Madrona holds an M.D. from Stanford University and is currently a research assistant professor in the Native American Research and Training Center at the University of Arizona college of Medicine in Tucson. He is boarded in family practice, geriatrics, psychiatry, and is board eligible in emergency medicine. He has been helping his patients find wellness and recovery and has worked extensively with women fed up with the abuses of impersonal hospital births, and with anyone having an interest in achieving spiritual and physical health. Pregnancy As Healing Vol. 1, Cesarean Birth Risk and Culture, Mind Over Matter, and Coyote Medicine. His new book will describe the consequences of for-profit health care in the United States. He is also continuing his research on a computer model to predict the outcome of birth. He writes “ I am interested in being on the Board of Advisors of Birth Works because I would like to support the move toward more normal birth in the United States. Classes like those proposed by Birth Works are an important part of this.”
