Conscious Empowered Birth
in 2008 to educate mothers during pregnancy, as a first step for babies to be born peacefully and healthy (and by extension creating a better world)! She is also a Yoga Teacher/Therapist/Trainer
and holds two Masters degrees (in international environmental and community health) from Yale University and Johns Hopkins University. She lived in nine states in the US and lived/worked in twelve countries. Cristin loves the universality of the birth experience and how women rise together by empowering each other through one of the most transformational, spiritual and important times in life.
Cristin certified as a BirthWorks Childbirth Educator in 2010 and later (in 2020) cross-certified as both a BirthWorks Birth Doula & Postpartum Doula. (She is also certified as a DONA Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula, as well as a Conscious Pregnancy Yoga Teacher and Health Moms Fitness Instructor). Cristin has mentored new BWI students and been on the BWI Board of Directors for years. In 2018, as Program Director & International Coordinator, she was thrilled to coordinate strategic and program development in the US and abroad. Now, in 2024, she is honored as BWI Executive Director to continue growing the synergistic, loving vision of birth leadership that BirthWorks always embodies. She is proud BWI brings both an evidence-based approach and a spiritual approach of human values to birth education for parents and professional training.
Cristin has three children - her daughter by waterbirth at home in Belgium and twin boys via cesarean in San Diego, CA, USA. Her experiences being pregnant and as a new mother began a deep longing to empower women to understand their power to birth naturally, be confident about the best use of technology - and understand the real risk of cascading interventions.
