In 1981, Cathy Daub designed and taught the first BirthWorks Childbirth Education classes in New Jersey, USA at a time when women were pressured into cesarean births. Her belief that women should birth in the least risky way, eventually grew BirthWorks to spread internationally. Her vision is deeply rooted in values-based Philosophies which recognize the deep need for childbirth education that helps women experience, trust and have faith in wisdom within that they already know how to give birth.
Cathy’s unique and experiential approach to childbirth is part passion and part culmination of varied talents and perspectives. She is a Physical Therapist who worked with special needs children for over 30 years. In addition to bring a mother to two and her work as a Childbirth Educator and Doula, she offers Maya Abdominal Massage. Also, she composed original birthing songs compiled on her CD Believe! She has traveled to 55 countries around the world, giving her an unique perspective on women of other cultures and their beliefs.
As Founder of BirthWorks International, Cathy taught nationally and internationally for over 20 years. She authored BirthWorks Childbirth Educator Manual and the heart of her work culminated in her book: Birthing In The Spirit, Doulas of Love. She is also contributor to magazines like Midwifery Today and Pathways to Wellness. Cathy’s passion for birth keeps growing, especially given the new primal health research - showing that what babies experience from conception to one year impacts health into adulthood. Cathy believes birth is an integration of mind, body, and spirit and dedicates her life to helping women and children reach their full human potential.
