Manal Sarhan, RN, BN, is a registered nurse and freelance health writer born and raised in Calgary, Canada. She is also a mother to four wonderful boys; among them a set of fraternal twins. Manal has over 10 years of experience working at the frontlines of healthcare with the majority of them being in postpartum bedside care. The first hours after birth can be some of the most vulnerable moments in a woman’s life, and Manal has always felt so honored to be a helpful hand and a voice of encouragement during this time. Her personal and professional experience in maternal child care has inspired her to share health-based knowledge with women and families. Manal believes that fear, however it may present, keeps women from embracing pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. As they say, knowledge is power, and what better way to help mothers conquer their fears than by sharing relevant, evidence-based information? She cares deeply about proactively empowering women through the transition of motherhood, including finding a connection to beliefs and the spiritual. Her passionate teaching is a wonderful contribution to the BirthWorks International blog.
